Coronavirus - Chinese Connection and Big Pharma

Everyone speaks about corona virus . Apparently one can get a simple cold from it with a runny nose.  The new corona virus is a new strain or a mutation from other corona viruses which scientists found. This was called temporarily as 2019 -nCOV and however from 11th February WHO gave it a new name as  Covid-19.

There are over 3600 people died from the virus so far. This is the recorded amount of death from hospitals. But what about the unrecorded deaths? Do they record the deaths from far away villages or in houses in China or in Iran?

However we can see china is fighting hard to contain the spreading of the virus.  It seems to me they are actually sacrificing a whole province of 50 million people to save the rest of the country and the world.  They have build a brand new hospital with 1000 beds and there are more in the pipeline.

According to this article  What to know about coronaviruses world first found out about this virus in 1960. The simple cold caused by these coronaviruses are  OC43 and   229E. There are four varieties according the article.
  • 229E (alpha coronavirus) , NL63 (alpha coronavirus)
  • OC43 (beta coronavirus)  ,HKU1 (beta coronavirus)
I have following questions:

The United States and the World Health Organization called on China to stop its biochemical laboratory in Wuhan in 2017 and build it elsewhere. They cite Wuhan as too crowded. In the event of a sudden bacterial or viral outbreak (leak), the situation can be difficult to control. The Chinese Academy of Science replied that the laboratory they were building is of category BSL-4. That means it's  being safe and having the highest standards and it would not  cause a problem. They also point out that there are two similar labs in Taiwan.
Chinese scientists hoped to find about the SARS virus and MERS virus in this biological laboratory, so they must be stored there. These viruses are two fairly dangerous viruses known as "Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)," and "Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV)."

Here you can find the letter that caused this US request. Nature is one of the world's most famous scientific magazines. They have recently published  this article. They have inserted on top of the article this: "There is no link between the new China-based laboratory and the new corona virus". I would like to accept it as because Nature an important journal. Since I am a reader of that magazine, I know that they would not remove articles just because they were pressured into doing so. say. But that reference was included, saying it was the basis for many rumors.
But that's not the problem. Other related sources for this article is missing from the Google search engine. I read the World Health Organization (WHO) warning to China two months ago. But it is nowhere to be found now. Removed from the Internet. The US government announcement is also cannot be found. Why were they removed from Google and other search engines?

The new corona virus virus has just started to spread in 2019 from a market in Wuhan , according to a news release.

Now, I come to my second question. The idea is that the virus is transferred from infected  animals. That may be true. It has been found that Corona virus mutations are also common in animals. There is no debate on that. The Chinese Academy of Sciences has said that the SARS virus transferred from  civet cats and ordered them to be removed from the market. This finding was approved by the World Health Organization. China then claimed that it had stopped spreading the SARS virus. These details can be found on the Google search engine.
But on social networks, pictures and videos of Chinese people gorging on snakes, bats in soups and live mice  began circulating. Some were recorded  by Chinese and many vieos were originated from China. Therefore, it is widely believed established that the new virus were spreading from animals. But has anyone found it to be true? Scientifically?

On the other hand, the Chinese have been a nation that has been eating these type of meat  for centuries. Not only in China, but also in other parts of the Asian continent namely, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand Laos and Philippine some communities of people  eat these animal meat. They have not yet reported the disease. If the disease spreads, it is less likely to be spread by people who eat cooked food but by a cook like in that Hollywood film contagion. I have seen snakes and bats in Cambodia.

In this article, a scientist named Peter Dasuk states: He states that the SARS virus is present in bats and that the new corona virus is a cluster. But has this been proven yet experimentally?

But I do not accept the Biological Weapon Theory. There is a military biological weapons laboratory in the town of Porton down in England. This is where the the use of Russian radiation weapon use in Salisbury incident was exposed . In Russia, there are laboratories for such biological weapons, but they are not in the areas where people live. I think that will be the case in  in China too, controlled by the Chinese army and the government of China.

Now I want to focus on this article. That's the latest idea  about the new corona virus. This research paper was presented by a group of Indian biologists. This research article was published on January 10th at https://www.biorxiv.org/. . If you are a biological researcher please read the research details and explain if they are correct or not. Biology, is a subject that I am not that familiar with. The main idea of this research article is 2019-nCov of the New Corona Virus ha some. Protein containers that are similar to HIV-1 GP120 and HIV-1 GAG viruses. This means that there are two variants of the AIDS virus. Anyone who wants this article I can send it,Or you can download from this link.. Any academic research article must be read by other scientists and approved by the scientific community. This is called peer review. It is said that this article did not properly analyzed the research data and draw incorrect conclusions. Therefore, the article has been withdrawn.

A group of Australian scientists have been able to produce the new corona virus under laboratory conditions.

At the same time, I think this observation is also important. Over the past two years, China has invested heavily in pharmaceutical companies and pharmaceutical products. India and China are the two main contenders for US and European markets. The article was published by Economics magazine a month before the new coronavirus virus arrived. The pharmaceutical industry in China is booming. The article, published in October of the same year (2019), states that China is using "artificial intelligence" to develop new type of drugs.
Is the new virus just a mistake waiting to be happen and it happened? Can We find out the truth eventually?

The perfect designer virus - COVID -19

In a sense the COVID 19 new corona virus spread seems to be in line with some political ideology. Those who die first are those who have some chronic conditions or who have long term illnesses  diabetes. The cost of living and medication for people with these diseases will be reduced as death rate increased. The next most likely people to die are those over 60 years of age. Their pensions will be left available for  those countries budgets. It seems to me this virus designed specially for dictators like Hitler.

Children and adolescents and those under the age of 45 are often cured. Their symptoms are also not that severe. So, this corona virus is a perfect designer virus. If the virus was infected by a bat or other animal, then that creature is more talented than the creator it self.

Most of the factories in China are closed. Atmospheric pollution created by these factories were virtually stopped. Right-wing politicians, from Trump in America to Johnson in Britain to the Mullahs of Iran, have fallen into a fray, an economic nightmare. In near future, economic growth will slow down and unemployment will rise. A British airline carrier has already gone bankrupt.

This is probably a   conspiracy by the Communists. A secret underground leftist network trying to destabilize the whole world. When economies collapse that would create a fertile  ground for revolutions is it not?

If this virus sent by God, this one surely is a strange one. It selected the sinners and elderly perfectly for now.

Soviet Red Army day or Russia's men's day?

Today is Soviet Red Army day. In modern Russia they celebrate it as "men's day " or army day. However, These Russians demonstrating for socialism carrying Stalin's portraits. Stalin against Putin? I am not sure how that works out, only a Russian will know.

My Valentine

My Valentine

There is a heartache
to have daughters
when they are young
dad is their hero
they follow you every where
want to do everything what you do
and they grew old
teenagers...
one in another country
as an exchange student
"I am fine " she says
"have fun dad"
what .....
other one says
"why don't you and mum go out"
"I am meeting with my friends"
suddenly  missus and me
alone in our house
front of the TV
well you know
lets go out
valentine or not,
you have me
I tell her
love you my girls
dad is not alone
I know I am in your thoughts
happy valentine to you all
who think they are alone
in this day
No...
we are with you
in our thoughts
you don't need a valentine
to think about friends

Band of Brothers - Series

Easy Company soldiers in Hitler's Eagel's Nest in Bergof
I watched the television series  Band of Brothers recently. I would say this is one of the best television drama series I watched about the Second world war.

This story is about a paratrooper company of United States Army landed in normandy on D - Day (6th of June 1944)  and fought its way through europe and ultimately capturing hitler's hideout called Eagle's nest in state of Bavaria's  city of Bergof.

The story of Easy company of the  U.S Army 101st Airborne Division was told through  paratroopers experiences  and their commanding officer Dick winters memoirs It's very hard not t fall in love with Doick Winter' brave yet simple character and be amazed by his strategic thinking. It's refreshing to see real Dick Winter and listen to him who retired to small farm in his twilight years  many moons later.

It's cast acted extraordinarily true passion and film paid attention to very small details in war era storytelling scenes.  It's Executive producers were Tom hanks
and Steven Spielberg. TV series is a proof of talent show for these two giants of world cinema.

Falling

Falling myself again
Nothing left to hold on
Spending my time alone
Struggling the sinking feeling .

Hope has dissolved in time
Pessimism has settled in mind
It is the scariest thing
The fear never ends.

I see all of you in my dreams
But no one remembers
No responses , no calls back
No replies for any massage .

Unheard , unrecognized
Sad and anguished
Frightened by the devastation
Scared soul , no where to turn .

Unable to escape , strangled
in empty quite moments
in this melancholic moments
I am haunted by this loneliness .

Dear Eldest

Ok, I have to admit,
I do not want you to grow up.
I want you to be my little daughter
forever,
See your beautiful smile
every time I come home from work.
You were born with that
nice smile,
But you fought every inch of the way
with mum and me,
To show me
you can take care of yourself,
and your little sister,
With your bubbliness,
and happy smile,
and loud singing,
and as a chatting queen.
Well you can
take care of yourself,
I am proud of you,
What you have achieved,
Whatever you are going to achieve,
What you have become,
No matter what
I love you
You are my eldest,
Happy 18th Shani

Rise up for Rojava - Lee Brickley

I wrote before in Support of Koben before. I wanted to writ something about Rojava and Kurd's flight when President Trump abandon them. I think Lee Brickley done it beautifully and I am reproducing it here.

For anyone with no understanding of what's happening to Kurds right now, here's a little (simplified) history lesson for you....

Kurds have been living on the land they call home now for thousands of years. After WW1 and the fall off the Ottoman Empire, the British and French promised Kurds they could continue to reside in those areas peacefully because they intended to create a country called Kurdistan. They went back on that promise and carved up the Kurdish homeland with the creation of some new countries, meaning that the Kurdistan was split between Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Syria.

All four of those countries have persecuted their Kurdish populations ever since. Turkey has committed the worst atrocities during that time, and up until recently, the Kurdish language, Kurdish names, and more were all banned. Turkey even refuses to call the people Kurds, and refers to them as "Mountain Turks" - a slur designed to brand Kurdish people as barbaric and uneducated.

Thousands of Kurds lost their lives during the 80s and 90s fighting against their Turkish oppressions, and yet the situation barely improved.

During the first Gulf War, the US encouraged Kurds to rise up against Saddam Hussein, but then failed to protect them when they did, resulting in thousands being murdered with chemical weapons.

Cue the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

When the US, UK and other Western countries invaded Iraq, Kurds fought alongside the allies, and against Saddam's army. They managed to create an autonomous region in Iraq because of it. When ISIS began grabbing mass amounts of land in Iraq, the Kurds fought back with allied assistance and stamped them out.

When ISIS started taking land and murdering thousands in Syria, the Syrian President Assad ordered his army to leave the region and he left millions of Kurds there to die. They would have done too if it weren't for the assistance of coalition air strikes and weapons that allowed them to push ISIS back and carve out another autonomous region in their homeland.

That region is Rojava. The people there live under a system called Democratic Confederalism which is based on workers' rights, equality, feminism, and ecology. In principal, this version of democracy is far more democratic than any system used in a Western country today.

The Kurds didn't want to team up with the US in Syria, they just didn't want to die, and they were left with no option after being abandoned by Assad.

Now the US has abandoned the Kurds and left them to die too. They're no longer "useful" and heaven forbid America is seen to be assisting a people who don't bow to the international banking cartel, and are determined to live in a real democracy.

The US said it wanted to bring "democracy" to the Middle East, but not THAT sort of democracy.

Assad and Russia refuse to back Kurds now because they worked with the US instead of being murdered. And Turkey (the biggest oppressor of the Kurdish people, and the country that literally funded ISIS) has invaded their land with one of the largest armies in NATO with the intention of ethnic cleansing, genocide and freeing ISIS prisoners.

The Kurdish people just can't win. Every major global power uses them when it suits their agenda, and then they feed them to the wolves.

The US won't stand up for the Kurds. The Syrian Government won't stand up for them, and neither will Iran or Russia. That is why every single person with a heart reading this must raise their voice now!

There's an old Kurdish saying that goes:

"NO FRIENDS BUT THE MOUNTAINS"

Please show our Kurdish brothers and sisters that isn't true. Do everything you can. I beg you.

Dear daughter

It's been a long time
Since 2003
When you came to the world
Fighting
It was not easy
Entry to this world

But it was nothing but a happiness
Raising you with mum
For the last 16 years
Intelligent and gentle
Bundle of joy - you
Soon you will leave the nest
Like I did
All those years ago
But remember,
There is a heart always
Longing to see you
Listen to you
Admire your smile
Happy 16th birth day

Mona Lisa

The mysterious creation
of his undeniable talent
you have stepped out
of that frame on the wall.
I knew it was boring,
you were fed up,
longing to have a change
to feel the real life.

You have dressed in style
Are you waiting for someone
Or you want to see and enjoy
how all the men go crazy
in your mesmerizing smile
and magical gaze.

We all liked, hair colour you had.
The mahogany gold, Invain you changed
Regal way you held, whole world hypnotized
Everyone was entranced, by your beauty enchanted.

Have a brake, enjoy the day .
Please go back, where you belong.
LOUVRE  was deserted
without you around,
You lady of legend.

SILENT RECORDER

Hoping to ease my mind
I opened my diary
to pen down my thoughts.
Before writing another page
went through some random pages.

Explores million moments
of waiting, agony and grief.
Page to page full of
mixed up memories of
his insults and rudeness,
cruelty from his iron hands.

All about the storms we face
All about flash of lightning
occasional softness and smoothness
and about never noticed growing rain drops
at the corners of my eyes.

And it's all about
how I tried to impress
my need for you,
my reactions for your rudeness
expressions of my frustration
anger for not being reasonable.

What a silent record of life...

Siya and I - First Meeting

After the first section of the professor's lecture came to the end, I entered the room of the lecturers near the door of the auditorium, with the other students following me. Professor Mulryne, who was delivering the lecture, was chatting with a student and several other faculty members. Those who were studying for a Master’s degree - some for a PhD - were sitting in this large room reading or doing some physics questions. Some came here to drink water, buy a cup of coffee or a cup of tea. Many students came to discuss how to answer difficult physics questions here.

I bought a cup of tea from the machine and stood near to the window to drink it. It was in that moment that felt a pair of eyes on me - the eyes of a beautiful South Asian-looking woman. I smiled at her and flipped through the pages of a ‘physicsworld’ magazine on the table. She walked towards me with a warm smile on her face and in no time at all, she was standing near me and bending over the magazine.

"Do you have any relationship to the country (…)?" she mentioned a name of a south Asian country.

"No, I was born in Sri Lanka and live here now, though many people have asked if I was from that country. Perhaps I look like one of them," I said. "I take it you are from that country?”

"Yes, I am.”

“Aren't there many people from (…) around this area?"

A significant number of people from the country in question had been living in this area of London (where our university was situated) for several decades. Perhaps it was because of that that I had seen many descendants of families who had emigrated from that country as students in this university.

"Yes, you’re right,” she replied. “Did you started the degree last year?"

"Yes – it's quite difficult but I wanted to; I love the subject. I did the level of higher maths needed for the course almost fifteen years ago."

"Do you still remember it? I graduated with a maths degree almost two years ago and I’ve already forgotten what I did." She laughed.

"I have been downloading the open university BSc mathematics courses – they were available online for free. After completing them, I was fine, though I have to admit, my mathematical knowledge was good in those days.”

"Then I can ask for your help?" she winked at me. I was surprised by her direct approach. The country she came from was strictly religious and known to ‘discipline’ women harshly.

"No problem," I replied, and started walking back into the auditorium for the rest of the lecture. That was the first time we met.

I went to lectures again next Thursday. She arrived to the lecture late. She had a beautiful smile on her face when she sat next to me and during the break, we chatted a lot. I learned that she had come to England many years ago and obtained her first Honors Degree for mathematics. After both lectures scheduled for the day finished, we came out of the auditorium together.

"Which way are you going now?" I asked.

"I have to take the 102 bus to Bethnal Green. You?"

"I came by car. Normally I travel by tube but I missed the train this morning. I parked my car at the next block on the other side of the road. If you want, I can give you a lift." I offered.

"That's okay. I’ll go by bus, but we can walk together to your car," she said as we stepped out through the university gate.

‘What is she trying to do?’ The question was spinning through my mind.

When we were outside, as we were walking and crossing the road, I noticed a kind of restlessness in her and a sense that she was trying to hide from other people. At first, I thought it was because she was a Muslim girl and felt shy. However, when I thought back to how straightforward she was on the day I first met her, I realised that that might not be the reason.

She glanced left and right once and suddenly started walking very fast. I was shocked at the speed she was walking – it was as if someone was chasing her.

During next few weeks, she’d sit next to me at lectures and we had our tea together. After lectures, we always exited the university together.

One day, Brian - an English guy - asked me slowly whether we were lovers. I very firmly told him ‘no’.

"See, I know you’re married."

I wondered how he knew I was married. Then it occurred to me that I had told Sarah about it one day - a physics teacher who studied with us.

"Pretty girl! Can I ask her out on a date?" Brian asked.

"Go ahead. Why should I care?" I replied with a bit of hostility.

The next day, when she talked to me, I realised that she wasn’t in her usual friendly mood.

"Are you my custodian?" She asked.

"Why?"

"Did you tell Brian to ask me out on a date?"

"Are you crazy? I should hit him. He asked me whether we were lovers. When I said no, he asked whether it was okay for him to go on a date with you. I said he could do whatever he wanted to - I didn't care."

Her face suddenly became very gloomy, as if grey clouds had been cast over it. "You really don’t care?"

Her question confused me.

"I don't want to go out on a date with him. I told him that," she said in a very sad voice.

I grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the building in which we had our lectures. Directly on our right hand side was the students’ cafeteria. On the left was our pub, where you could buy beer at a cheaper price than outside the university (as well tea or coffee). Most of the time you could see teachers, students and their friends having coffee or beer on the wooden benches.

I bought two cups of coffee for us both and we sat on a bench in the corner, where no one was around.

"I’m married." I said, looking at her directly.

"Did I ask?" She fired back.

With nothing to say, I stared at her for few moments.

"Sarah told me." She murmured in a low voice. So... she had known that I was a married student.

"Isn't your name Siya?" I asked after a moment.

Even though we had sat beside each other during lectures, left the university, had tea and solved our maths questions together over the past two and a half months, I had never asked her name. At that moment, it came to my attention that she too had never asked any personal questions about me.

"Yes, you knew that."

"No, I just guessed - I once saw the name on an assignment you handed in.”

"Oh. And your name?” She asked.

"Call me Priyan."

"But isn't your name something else?"

"No, I go by Priyan – it’s a shortened form of my name. In this country, names are very short. I think it’s easier to pronounce Priyan."

"Yes… Priyan. I like that name. It has a musical sound."

Story of my eyes

Tired as the wings of a bird
Emotionally affected and pained.
Hiding and  crying in dark corners
Still allowing myself to be tortured.

If you stop for a while
And look at my face,
My eyes tell a story.
Crying and weeping
With all the emotions one can feel
Trying to stitch my life again.

Like a worn out shoe,
Uttering wild cries
Like a bird in pain
Wishing feelings do not exist.

A nice response to my book "Siyama" (written in Sinhala Language)

This poem was from Dhammika Chandani. In response to the book written by me.

It was a quick visit....
LIKE LIGHTENING
JUST about to fade off ......

In this stormy bond

Emotions on a roller coaster.....
a down pour  of tears..
soaking through my feelings...
My mind a battle ground
tearing me apart.

But,  there I was....
almost an Oscar nominee
struggling....
to hide the  feelings.....
to keep control.....

Slowly.....
stealthily .....
Keeping his hands on my shoulders....
When he kissed my forehead.....

The current that went through my body..............
My accelerated heart beat......
My trembling legs........

Slowly......
Carefully......
Reminded me .....
that he doesn't know
how much I love him.

I wish he knew.
Hope is still fluttering its feathers...

Is he really most dangerous philosopher in the West - Žižek

In the last two years or so it has become obvious that not only is Slavoj Žižek having to engage in academic debates with his interlocutors, but that his celebrity as the so-called “Elvis of cultural theory” and “most dangerous philosopher in the West” is beginning to be challenged by liberals and even leftists who are starting to not only be aware of his unusual manners and humour, but what he is actually more or less saying – what his political-intellectual stance is and how it disturbs not only status quo liberal-democratic ideology but also postmodern academia.

Before the recent media hysteria generated by Žižek’s faux-endorsement of Donald Trump as a disaster that could possibly result in a rejuvenated left, willing to go beyond its ideological subjection to the neoliberal consensus, the liberal-left had already awoken to the fact that Žižek represents a challenge to its smug self-image as morally superior to the conservative right.
This was seen for instance in Marcus Brown’s April 2016 Guardian column, which compared Žižek’s high theory critique of political correctness to the knavery of Donald Trump, going so far as to suggest that Žižek may very well be a “cryptofascist.”

1 One month later, Žižek was challenged by protesters (fronted by Taryn Fivek) at the Left Forum in New York City, who handed out flyers that “call him out” for making racist and sexist jokes. The problem with this protest is that it failed to demonstrate any understanding of Žižek’s work and he more than kindly addressed at the Forum each of the accusations listed on the flyer.

2 Such activists and journalists are not concerned with debating Žižek’s philosophy from a leftist perspective, they simply want to diminish its political impact by tarnishing his reputation through meme warfare, a liberal equivalent to Tea Partiers who denounce Obama as a “socialist.” Defending himself against more recent criticisms of his theories regarding sexual politics, Žižek commented on how the kind of “tweet culture” that shapes public opinion today is mired in self-righteous political correctness, blending “official tolerance and openness” with “extreme intolerance towards actually different views.”

3 In this context, it was a slightly refreshing change of pace from the usual PC attacks when Žižek was invited to share the limelight with the British novelist Will Self.
